We were blessed this weekend to have all 4 of our sons at home at the
same time. Few things say "I'm a parent" than getting up at 3 am to
drive downtown to pick your son up at the bus station. Without
describing events, I had several opportunities to work on "letting go".
Several times this weekend, my 22 yr old son had to remind me..."Mom,
I'm an adult now". Ouch! Sometimes it hurts to hear our "babies" don't
need us anymore! He really is growing into a fine young man.
As for the life in the fast lane portion of the title...that's what
happens when you have all 4 sons home at the same time! It was a
whirlwind of a weekend and I'm probably among the minority of humans who
actually look forward to Mondays! I like having the routine (and I am
using this term very loosely here) of homeschool! With the chaos of
this weekend, I didn't get to work on Isaac's lesson plans for this week
(Cameron's is done for the month). This morning has been, for lack of a
better term, soothing in it's routinely-ness. I have ordered what
looks to be an amazing addition to our curriculum-Classically Catholic
Memorization (Gamma Year). I am eagerly looking forward to receiving it
this week and adding it to our schedule!
This week,
the boys are studying about the beginnings of slavery in early American
history. Isaac will be finishing up his study of Venus. Cameron will be
working on many things. I will be working on getting the house back in
order and helping both boys with staying on task. The Character Trait
we are working on for the month of October is "WORK".
